[ Though Hector may not have all the money his family has or his Pact salary at his disposal, the knowledge of what good wine is is still with him. The positive appraisal satisfies him. ]
I'm pretty sure you're not here for my originality.
[ With his one free hand, he gently rests it on the small of Vaer's back and leans in to place a kiss to their cheek. ]
[ The faintest smile, and they finally accept the flowers, holding them close to draw in their scent. By far not the first time that Vaer has ever received a bouquet of flowers from an admirer, yet none compare because none of those admirers was Hector. ]
I should hope so. I have a lifestyle I'd like to maintain...
[ They lean in and catch Hector's lips in a soft, chaste kiss. And "lean in" is because they are !! almost the same height !! ]
It takes a lot of willpower on Hector's part not to totally melt into the kiss. He's pretty hopeless, he thinks. Vaer has wormed their way into his heart and is slowly dismantling him from the inside.
He pulls back first, though, patting Vaer's back as he does so. ]
C'mon. Go pack up. Let's get outta here.
[ He steps back, crooked grin on his face. It's the smile he wears when he's trying not to lose composure in public. ]
[ Vaer knows, absolutely, that Hector is pretty hopeless. But that's part of what drew them together. In many ways, Vaer is pretty hopeless, too. Years spent living as someone else will do that, probably. ]
There will be trouble if something gets in the way, this time.
[ With a faint smile. With that, Vaer retreats backstage to pack up their things; later, they return with the wine and flowers still in their arms, but with their Bag of Holding hanging from a shoulder. ]
[ Together, they're rediscovering themselves. Maybe Hector did not lose himself on the literal level that Vaer did, but learning to respond to Hector again has been a trial.
Still, he chuckles. He will not be getting drunk and inviting random people over this time.
Old habits die hard--when Vaer emerges, Hector stands up straight. With a grand sweep of his hand and a slight bow, he gestures towards the exit. Noble courtship is ingrained in him, it seems. ]
We shall. I hope you're not expecting to stop anywhere, because I'm taking you straight home.
[ Hector isn't the only one between the two of them for whom the mannerisms and decorum of nobility are deeply-ingrained. Vaer offers the selfsame gesture and bow.
Though after that's over with, all bets are off, because Vaer simply grins, enigmatic as ever. ]
What if I'm hungry? I just sang my heart out on stage for a while.
[ Hector drops his hand to entwine his fingers with Vaer's, and leads them out of the venue and into the street. And wherever Hector's house (apartment?) happens to be, that's where they're headed. Though that's pretty obvious to both at this point. ]
What if I have something for you at home? [ Hector is a terrible cook, btw, a fact Vaer would know. ] I think you can manage for the walk home.
[ Okay, that gets a chuckle out of them, and their grin turns a bit lopsided as they wink back. They know very well what Hector can do with a bow and arrow. ]
I think I know very well how adventurous you are.
[ Both in the sense of knowing about all that Hector's gotten up to, and... y'know. winkwonk. But at last they arrive at Hector's residence! ]
[ Hector turns, leaning his back against the door to push it open. There's a little glint in his eye as the entrance to his house swings open. ]
I do.
[ And when they step inside, they're both immediately hit with the smell of delicious food. Considering the smaller layout of his place, the dining table is readily visible--it's been set for the both of them, and a spread of a feast sits over it.
Not a few moments later, a man--probably the one who cooked it--steps out from the kitchen and offers Hector a bow. Hector in turn thanks him, points to the cash sitting on the side table, and watches as he leaves.
When it's just the two of them, Hector grins at Vaer. ]
Vaer offers a courteous nod to the chef as they take their pay and depart, and once the door shuts behind them, they then offer an enigmatic little smile at Hector before they walk over to the table, silver eyes raking over the artfully-assembled spread there. ]
Well. Consider me impressed. This is certainly better than takeout.
[ Other people would probably be more impressed if Hector had made the meal himself, but let's be honest: neither of them can cook for shit, probably. ]
I recognized the chef, too. He heads a rather respectable establishment in town, doesn't he?
Hector follows behind Vaer, quietly leaning close behind them to rest a hand on the table. He puts his weight on the arm, glances down at the food, then back up at Vaer. ]
He does. I figured, if I'm going to be getting food catered for you, it better be good. You deserve the best.
[ He chuckles a bit. ]
Within budget, of course.

You did great.

... Thank you. Songs and tales about adventurers never seem to miss with these crowds...
[ Was there a song in there about Hector? Probably ]
no subject
Hector chuckles, pulling back to give Vaer an approving look. He might've caught the song about himself... Maybe not. ]
People who never travel will always find romance in it. [ He hands the flowers to them. ] I think you have an audience for life.

Hm. You're not trying to poison me, are you?
[ A sly, knowing grin cast his way. ]

On second thought, you probably should've hired a taste tester.
[ He teases. He'll play along... He doesn't want to ruin the surprise. ]

[ A little morbid, dark - but also strangely romantic? That's just Vaer's way, perhaps. ]
no subject
You know I'd never let you suffer, babe. I'd make sure your death is near instant, if I can help it.
[ THIS IS FLIRTING??? ]
no subject
Ah, merciful and romantic. Will you draw a blade and bring it to bear on my neck instead, I wonder? And watch the blood trickle down my pretty neck?
[ A beat. This is definitely flirting????]
...Or stick to the poison?

I was thinking more an arrow to the head.
[ He's been doing archery since he was a kid. He'd rather stick to what he knows when it comes to killing. He'd never miss. ]
I don't mind being adventurous with other things, though. [ wink!!
Luckily Hector doesn't live too far away--they don't have to scare too many more passers-by with this conversation... ]
i broke all my icons but im here :)

there they are,
I do.

[ Perhaps 'respectable' and 'expensive' are not necessarily synonymous, by Vaer's thinking.
Their grin slides into a lopsided smirk as they lean in and press a soft kiss to Hector's cheek. ]
Well, now my expectations for the rest of the night have shot up to the heavens.
no subject
I'll try not to disappoint.
[ He pulls out the chair and gestures to the spot, waiting for them to take their seat. ]
